Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2

August 31, 2006

Today around noon Microsoft rolled out Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2. The differences between Beta 1 and Beta 2 are:

  • Fixing issues. Fixes have been made for issues that occurred in the first beta release of Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP.

  • Additional online stores are now available. More online stores are available in this beta release of Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP. For a listing of online stores that are now available, see Availability of online stores.

  • Changes to sharing digital media content. The functionality of Windows Media Connect is now integrated into Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2 for Windows XP as the new Media Sharing feature, which lets you enjoy the contents of your Windows Media Player library from anywhere in your home. If you have a home network (wired or wireless), you can use Windows Media Player 11 to stream the contents of your library to networked devices such as Xbox 360 or other digital media receivers. For more information, go to Digital Media at Home.

Note that digital media sharing is targeted for home users; therefore, computers that are joined to a domain might experience issues when trying to share digital media.

New Wii Titles

August 27, 2006

At the Leipzig Games Convention Mario Strikers Charged and Battalion Wars II are added are added to the wii line up.

Mario Strikers Charged

A super-charged sequel to Super Mario Strikers, Mario Strikers Charged allows players to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk Controller to strip the ball, score unstoppable goals and take control of the goalkeeper to perform spectacular saves.

Mario is joined by other famous Nintendo characters who take on the role of captains in the game. Each captain has his or her own set of skills and super abilities as well as the ability to perform special shots called Mega Strikes, where the iron ball splits up into five balls which rocket toward the goal. The defending player must use the Wii Remote to aim and shoot these balls out of the air before they reach the goal. Players can also charge the metal ball with energy, making it more likely to find its target when fired at the goal.

Mario Strikers Charged will feature an action-packed multiplayer mode, and will also support the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, allowing players to take part in tournaments with people from all around the world.

Battalion Wars II

ricked into believing that the Solar Empire is developing a devastating super-weapon, Commander Pierce and Colonel Windsor of the Anglo Isles launch a pre-emptive strike on the Coral Atolls. The world is once again at war. In Battalion Wars II, players will drive tanks, command ships, pilot planes and direct troops into the heart of the action in the return of the popular tactical action game for Wii.

New features include:

•Three online multiplayer modes: Assault, Skirmish and Co-op.

•Three theatres of war: land, sea and air.

•Five new naval units: Battleship, Frigate, Submarine, Dreadnought and Transport.

•Six different races, and five different environments.
